NATO in Chicago Waiting with Picasso The Chicago cops are waiting at the Daley Plaza (across the street from my office) for the nurses and the first big protest of Chicago's NATO weekend. As I was taking the pic, a young (20-something) couple walked by in dreadlocks and complete protester regalia including a sign. She said, "I think there's going to be protesting here." He responded, "No, there ain't gonna be nothin' around here." Some protesters just didn't get the memo. May 18, 2012

156229394Picasso and Protesters During the NATO Summit festivities, the sticker says TTFRA which the small print translates it as, "Tax The F****** Rich Already," and I'm wondering if that was Picasso's demand or the statue's? Other issues the signs are protesting: NATO (natch); Climate Change; Mayor Rahm Emanuel; and (my personal favorite) Speed Cam Tickets. May 18, 2012.
