OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW
BIG IRON WORLD

Nothing wrong with good fun, and that’s what Old Crow Medicine Show seems to be all about. A pre-bluegrass, old time string revivalist band, Big Iron World is resolutely informal (the laughter that opens track 2, Cocaine Habit, lets us know that), and this group of 20-somethings do a fine job of kicking up the dust with their energetically frailed banjo, out-front harmonica, guitars, fiddles, and twangy vocals. I have to think these guys deliver the goods live--the recording packs a nice punch on its own. And if one young Old Crow fan decides to pick up a County historic compilation to find out where it all started, all the better.
